Endogenous methyl palmitate modulates nicotinic receptor-mediated transmission in the superior cervical ganglion. PAME activates Kv7 channels and promotes perivascular adipose tissue.

At present, there are two main methods to obtain methyl palmitate, one is to prepare fatty acid methyl ester mixture by transesterification reaction between palm oil and methanol under alkaline catalytic condition, which is used for biodiesel; the other one is to use concentrated sulfuric acid as the catalyst, and palm acid and methanol are directly dehydrated and esterified to prepare methyl palmitate. In the direct esterification method, concentrated sulfuric acid corrodes the equipment seriously, the product is not easy to separate, the post-treatment process is complicated, and the wastewater causes serious pollution to the environment, and the strong oxidizing property of concentrated sulfuric acid can easily cause the product to deepen in color in the reaction process.
