Butanilicaine,Enreco, INC
Butanilicaine Hydrochloride, is a local anesthetic.
ChEBI: An amino acid amide amide in which N-butylglycine and 2-chloro-6-methylaniline have combined to form the amide bond; used as a local anaesthetic (amide caine).
To a solution of 4-bromo-2-methylaniline is added 13 g of chloroacetyl
chloride. After the reaction is finished to the mixture id added a solution of 33
g sodium acetate in 138 ml of water. Chloroacetic acid 4-bromo-2-
methylanilide is filtered; yield 24 g, M.P. 135°C (crystallization from ethanol).
20 g of chloroacetic acid 4-bromo-2-methylanilide is dissolved in 200 ml of butylamine. After about 15 hours to the solution is added 2 N hydrochloric
acid. Butylaminoacetic acid 4-bromo-2-methylanilide hydrochloride is removed
by suction and washed with water; yield 90%, M.P. 252-253°C (from
methanol).
