3‘,5’-Dibromo-2'-hydroxyacetophenone is a halogenated hydroxyacetophenone derivative which can have good reactivity and is widely used in organic synthesis. Its derivative 5′-bromo-2′-hydroxyacetophenone can be used as a raw material to synthesise a variety of 2-(2-hydroxyphenyl)-1H-indoles by palladium-catalysed reaction with aniline[1].
3'',5''-Dibromo-2''-hydroxyacetophenone is a useful reagent in organic synthesis.
Preparation by Fries rearrangement of 2,4-dibromophenyl acetate with aluminium chloride without solvent between 150° and 165°.
