Methyl 4-aminopyridine-2-carboxylate is synthesised using Methyl 4-azidopyridine-2-carboxylate as a raw material by chemical reaction. The specific synthesis steps are as follows:
4-Azido-pyridine-2-carboxylic acid methyl ester (3.9 g, 22 mmol, 1 eq) was solubilized in methanol (50 mL) and palladium 10 percent w on carbon (400 mg) was added. The mixture was stirred at room temperature over 4 bars pressure of hydrogen until completion of the reaction. The mixture was then filtered over a short pad of celite, and rinsed with methanol to afford the expected compound as a yellow powder (3.0 g, 90percent yield).
