Menhaden Oil provides the essential fatty acid supplement omega-3 fatty acids. Also shown to inhibit human lung carcinoma through integrin-linked kinase protein suppression.

Fish oils are used to decrease infl ammation in rheumatoid arthritis, to prevent cardiovascular disease, and to treat major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, and dysmenorrhea. Fish oils are also used to prevent low birth weight infants in women with previous pregnancy complications.

Extractives and their physically modified derivatives. It consists primarily of the glycerides of C14-C18 and C16-C22 unsatd. fatty acids.

Menhaden Oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. When used to partially supplement a high-f at diet in diabetic rats, Menhaden oil improved end points for peripheral neuropathy by improving motor and sensory nerve conduction velocity. Decreased accumulation of fatty acids in r at livers was also demonstrated.
