Derivatization of substrates is accomplished efficiently in DMF containing a slight molar excess of imidazole. Blocked intermediates exhibited acidic hydrolytic stability intermediate between that of a Tert-butyldimethylchlorosilane and Tert-butyldiphenyl chlorosilane derivatives. Greater stability was obtained with Triisopropylchlorosilane under basic conditions.
