CRF (BOVINE)

CRF, bovine is a potent agonist of CRF receptor, and displaces [125I-Tyr]ovine CRF with a Ki of 3.52 nM.

CRF is a hypothalamic peptide that releases ACTH and endorphin from the anterior pituitary. It is also a neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, and is involved in autonomic and endocrine responses to stress.

The extract is purified by ion-exchange on CM-cellulose, desalted, evaporated and lyophilised. Then separate from impurities by gel filtration through Sephadex G-50. [Lande et al. Biochemical Preparations 13 45 1971, Esch et al. Biochem Biophys Res Commun 122 899 1984].
