Tung oil is a plant oil that can be polymerized to produce a variety of products which include pressure sensitive adhesives, self-healed epoxy coatings, polyurethane foam, and vinyl ester resins.
Extractives and their physically modified derivatives. It consists primarily of the glycerides of the fatty acid eleostearic.
Tung oil is also called china wood oil that can be produced by cold pressing the seeds of tung tree. It can be used as a biodiesel and a drying oil in the production of paints.
Toxic by ingestion. Contact causes dermatitis.
Ingestion causes nausea, vomiting, cramps, diarrhea
and tenesmus, thirst, dizziness, lethargy, and
disorientation. Large doses can cause fever, tachycardia,
and respiratory effects. Combustible when
exposed to heat or flame. Can react with oxidizing
materials.
