Defibrotide is an antithrornbotic, partially-depolymerized polydeoxyribonucleotide
obtained from bovine lungs. It is reported to be useful in the treatment of
myocardial and severe lower limb ischemia, renal failure due to thrombotic
microangiopathy, and thrombophlebitis, and in the prophylaxis of deep vein thrombosis, possibly via PCI2 stimulation.
