Menazon is commercially synthesised by reacting 4,6-diamino-1,3,5-triazine with formaldehyde and O,O-dimethyl dithiophosphoric acid. The production process begins with 4,6-diamino-1,3,5-triazine (a triazine ring with two amino groups), which is condensed with formaldehyde to introduce a methylene bridge. This intermediate is then reacted with O,O-dimethyl dithiophosphoric acid or its chloride derivative to form the final compound.
Highly toxic, cholinesterase inhibitor.
Systemic. Acetylcholinesterase (AchE) inhibitor.
Moderately toxic by ingestion andpossibly other routes. Mutation data reported. Whenheated to decomposition it emits very toxic fumes ofNOx, POx, and SOx.
