Fluensulfone is a yellow coloured resin-like solid with a charcateristic odour. It is soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol, DMSO, and dimethyl formamide. The solubility of fluensulfone in these solvents is approximately 30 mg/ml. fluensulfone is a non-fumigant nematicide containing sulfone, thiazolyl and fluoroalkenyl functional groups.
Fluensulfone is used as nematicide.
ChEBI: Fluensulfone is a member of the class of 1,3-thiazoles carrying 3,4,4-trifluorobut-3-ene-1-sulfonyl and chloro substituents at positions 2 and 5 respectively. A nematicide that is effective against a number of plant parasitic nematodes in a range of agricultural and horticultural crops. It has a role as a nematicide and an agrochemical. It is a member of 1,3-thiazoles, an organochlorine pesticide, a sulfone, an organofluorine pesticide and an olefinic compound.
The application of fluensulfone substantially reduced nematode multiplication either in tomato or cucumber cultivation at all doses above 24 ml 100 m.1. Plants cultivated in plots treated with fluensulfone produced significantly more fruits throughout the cropping season for both crops.
Fluensulfone is a new chemical class of nematicide whose mechanism of action is inhibits development, egg-laying, egg-hatching, feeding and locomotion.
