N,N-Dimethyltrimethylsilylamine was used in the synthesis of phosphoramidite. It was also employed as a reagent in the preparation of iminium salts and amides as well as for the silylation of polymers. A combination of N-(trimethylsilyl)dimethylamine and MeI was also effective to give p-methylbenzoic acid with a 85% yield based on 90% conversion from the corresponding Me ester. N,N-Dimethyltrimethylsilylamine can be used as a reactant to prepare some organic compounds, it can also be used as a silylating agent in chemical synthesis.

A process for producing N,N-Dimethyltrimethylsilylamine, which comprises: Trimethylchlorosilane and a solvent are added to a flask, and dimethylamine gas is introduced to obtain a crude product of N,N-dimethyltrimethylsilylamine; the crude product is distilled at atmospheric pressure and then rectified to obtain N,N-Dimethyltrimethylsilylamine.
