Uses
Yangambin is one of the active ingredients of Radix Stellerae Chamaejasmes, which is bitter in nature and taste, and is highly toxic. It has the effects of severe diarrhea, prevent decay, and swelling. It is clinically used for erysipelas, mammary carbuncle, swollen mumps (mumps), yellow water sores, and acne.
Biological Activity
Yangambin is a furofuran lignan that has been isolated from plants such as the Annonaceae family, including: R. pickeli, R. exalbida and R. mucosa and Magnolia biondii. Yangambin is a selective PAF receptor antagonist that inhibits Ca2+ influx by modulating Ca2+ channels, resulting in a decrease in [Ca2+] in vascular smooth muscle cells and subsequent peripheral vasodilation. Yangambin exhibits anti-allergic activity against β-hexosaminidase with IC50 of 33.8 μM and anti-inflammatory activity with IC50 of 37.4 μM.
