DIETHYLENE GLYCOL ETHYL ETHER ACETATE is an ester. Esters react with acids to liberate heat along with alcohols and acids. Strong oxidizing acids may cause a vigorous reaction that is sufficiently exothermic to ignite the reaction products. Heat is also generated by the interaction of esters with caustic solutions. Flammable hydrogen is generated by mixing esters with alkali metals and hydrides.

It has a range of uses and is found in many products such as decaffeinated tea and coffee, cigarettes, nail polish remover, and glues. It is manufactured on a large scale as a solvent. In the laboratory, it is used for column chromatography and extraction. Its reagent grade means this is the highest quality commercially available for this chemical and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material.

Uses
Diethylene glycol monoethyl ether acetate is used as a catalytic agent, petrochemical additive, coating auxiliary agent and in organic synthesis. It is mainly used as metal, furniture paint solvents and as organic intermediate.
