What are the pharmacological effects of malonic acid?

Malonic acid is an active small molecule reagent found in the human body, participating in fatty acid biosynthesis and numerous enzyme-catalysed reactions. Trace amounts of malonic acid can be detected in human urine. Research indicates that malonic acid injection can improve the survival rate of rats with acute hypoxia. Endogenous malonic acid is believed to play a significant role in stimulating tissue resistance to hypoxia. In addition, it can be used to prepare anti-inflammatory agents (cinnamic acid) and sedative-hypnotic agents (barbiturates).
