Dinitramine is a soil incorporated pre-plant herbicide. It has a low aqueous solubility and a low volatility. Depending on local conditions it may be moderately persistent in soils. Based on its physico-chemical properties it is not expected to leach to groundwater. Available ecotoxicological data is very limited but dinitramine is moderately toxic to birds and fish. Dinitramine has a low oral mammalian toxicity.
Bright yellow solid, melting point 95-100℃.

ChEBI: Dinitramine is a C-nitro compound.
The commercial production of dinitramine involves a multi-step process. It begins with the nitration of 2-(trifluoromethyl)aniline using a mixture of nitric and sulphuric acids to introduce nitro groups at the 2 and 4 positions, forming 2,4-dinitro-6-(trifluoromethyl)aniline. This intermediate is then reacted with diethylamine under controlled temperature in an organic solvent to substitute the amine group, yielding dinitramine. The crude product is purified through filtration and recrystallisation to achieve high purity.
Selective, absorbed by roots and shoots. Microtubule assembly inhibition.
