Vialox, or Pentapeptide-3, is a synthetic peptide that acts on a different part of the neuromuscular junction.
As a competitive antagonist at nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, Vialox prevents the sodium influx
required for muscle fibers to depolarize and contract. Within one minute of treatment, muscle contracts
can be reduced by up to 71%, and 58% of muscle fibers are still immotile two hours later. Vialox can
prevent wrinkles from getting deeper due to muscle contractions. In one study, Vialox used twice a day
for 28 days resulted in a nearly 50% reduction in wrinkle depth and roughness. It can be used at concentrations
of 0.05%–0.3% to treat facial wrinkles and tighten skin.
