Lead stearate is an organic lead compound.
It is a white powder with a slight fatty odor.
It is used as a stabilizer, lubricant, and smoothing agent and transparent softener for rubber products. This product is a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) stabilizer. Dibasic lead stearate has better thermal stability, electrical insulation, and water resistance than lead stearate. It is commonly used in extruded products such as pipes, corrugated sheets, and wires, and also in injection molded products. Lead stabilizers are the earliest stabilizers used in PVC and are still widely used. The usage accounts for about 60% of all stabilizer dosages (excluding lead soaps).
It is used as a stabilizer for plastics
and rubber processing; in extreme-pressure lubricants and
as a drier in varnishes
