Sodium Metaborate Tetrahydrate is used as a boron fertilizer for maize growth and uptake. it is also used as a source of boron in the production of Sodium borohydride which is a medium for hydrogen storage.
Sodium metaborate tetrahydrate may be made by cooling a
solution containing borax and an amount of sodium hydroxide
just in excess of the theoretical value.
