Ammoniumglyphosate can be used as a herbicidal composition to control weed in crop fields.
Glyphosate-monoammonium is produced by first manufacturing technical-grade glyphosate through the standard industrial route, typically the glycine/IDA-based pathway in which glycine (or its substituted precursor) is phosphonomethylated and then neutralised to yield glyphosate acid. Once the purified acid is available, manufacturers generate the monoammonium salt through partial neutralisation with one molar equivalent of ammonia, usually added as an aqueous solution under controlled pH and temperature.
Broad-spectrum, systemic, contact action, translocated and non-residual acivity. Inhibits EPSP synthase.
