Tri(4-isopropylphenyl) phosphate is widely used as a flame retardant plasticizer for polyvinyl chloride, especially suitable for flame retardant plasticizing of rubber conveyor belts, and can also be used for chloroprene rubber.
Organophosphates, such as Tri(4-isopropylphenyl) phosphate, are susceptible to formation of highly toxic and flammable phosphine gas in the presence of strong reducing agents such as hydrides. Partial oxidation by oxidizing agents may result in the release of toxic phosphorus oxides.
