Picarbutrazox is a potent pesticide and fungicide. Picarbutrazox can be used for corn and soybean to control Pythium and Phytophthora. Picarbutrazox can be used in agricultural production and control[1][2].
ChEBI: Picarbutrazox is an oxime O-ether that is the (Z)-oxime derivative of 1-methyl-1H-tetrazol-5-yl phenyl ketone in which the hydrogen of the hydroxy group has been replaced by the N-tert-butoxycarbonyl derivative of a [6-(Boc-amino)pyridin-2-yl]methyl group. It is a novel fungicide developed for use on cereals. It has a role as an antifungal agrochemical. It is a carbamate ester, a member of tetrazoles, a member of pyridines, an oxime O-ether and a carbamate fungicide.
Picarbutrazox is produced through a multi step synthesis that builds its heteroaromatic core and carboxamide functionality. The process begins with preparation of a substituted thiazole intermediate, which is then coupled with a benzyl or aryl precursor under controlled conditions to introduce the phenyl substituent. Subsequent acylation with a carboxylic acid chloride or activated ester yields the carboxamide linkage, forming the active picarbutrazox molecule.
Affects the biosynthesis of phospholipids, distrupting the normal function of the pathogen's cellular membrane
