This alkaloid which structurally resembles the Alstonia bases, is found in Picralima Klaineana and forms clusters of colourless needles from C6H6-pentane. It
has [α]25D - 124° (EtOH) and is characterized as the picrate, yellow prisms when
recrystallized from MeOH, m.p. 162-4°C.
Picraline is a natural alkaloid that targets opioid receptors with binding affinities with Ki values of 132 μM, 2.38 μM and 98.8 μM for μOR, κOR and δOR, respectively[1].
μ Opioid Receptor/MOR: 132 μM (Ki); κ Opioid Receptor/KOR: 2.38 μM (Ki); δ Opioid Receptor/DOR: 98.8 μM (Ki)
