Di(propylene glycol) dibenzoate (DPGDB) is a benzoate plasticiser characterised by high solubility and environmental friendliness. It is compatible with a wide range of polar polymers and can serve as a substitute for phthalate plasticisers. When used as a plasticiser for polyvinyl alcohol (PVAc), DPGDB can be employed in the manufacture of diamond-coated PVC. Furthermore, studies have shown that for polymers adsorbed onto silica, the plasticiser has no effect when the polymer adsorption amount is 0.81 mg/m². This adsorption amount roughly corresponds to the amount of PVAc tightly bound to silica gel. However, when the adsorption amount increases to 1.42 or 1.81 mg/m², the plasticiser effectively reduces the glass transition temperature (Tg) of the adsorbed polymer[1].
