Benzylpenicillin benzathine was developed
as a dilatorily acting benzylpenicillin that maintains
an effective serum concentration for 2 days
following a single intramuscular injection of
600000 U. It is also used as an orally active benzylpenicillin
because it is only slightly affected
by a patient’s meal .
Penicillin G benzathine tetrahydrate displays activity and antibacterial effect in CD-I mice infected with Staphylococcus aureus Smith[2].
