Dibutyl Butylphosphonate is a reagent used in organic synthesis. It is used for uranium extractions as well as in the plasticizing industry.
Poison by
intraperitoneal and intravenous routes.
Combustible when exposed to heat or
flame. It can react vigorously with oxidizing
materials. To fight fire, use foam, CO2, or
dry chemical. When heated to
decomposition it emits toxic fumes of POx.
Purify by three recrystallisations of its compound with uranyl nitrate, from hexane. For method, see tributyl phosphate.
