Nobiletin is a natural polymethoxylated flavonoid that can be isolated from citrus fruit peels. Like other polymethoxylated flavonoids, nobiletin is a potent antioxidant with good bioavailability. Presumably through antioxidant actions, nobiletin has anti-inflammatory effects that are relevant to a host of diseases, including cancer, arthritis, and neurodegeneration. Nobiletin directly inhibits the ATP-binding cassette proteins P-glycoprotein and breast cancer resistance protein (IC50 = 11.5 and 4.9 μM, respectively).
