It has a role as an Arabidopsis thaliana metabolite, an antimicrobial agent, an apoptosis inhibitor, an apoptosis inducer, an antioxidant, an anti-inflammatory agent, a hepatoprotective agent, an antibacterial agent and a hypoglycemic agent. It is a hydroxycoumarin and an aromatic ether.
