Chemical Properties
White crystals, soluble in methanol, ethanol, DMSO and other organic solvents, derived from nutmeg, Lauraceae (Lauraceae) Licarin aritu Ducke trunk (yield: 0.35%) Machilus japonica Sieb.et Zucc. Ye Hongnan Machilus thunbergii Sieb.et Zucc. Bark, wood, leaves.
Uses
Licarin B has antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, sedative and anti-tumor effects.
Biological Activity
Licarin B, derived from the seeds of Myristica fragrans, is an inhibitor of NO production and improves insulin sensitivity by activating PPARγ and GLUT4 in the IRS-1/PI3K/AKT pathway.
in vitro
Licarin B (5 μM, 10 μM, 15 μM. 8 days) moderately increases TG accumulation during adipogenic differentiation and showed partial PPARg agonist activity in 3T3-L1 preadipocytes.
