Uses

FERROUS GLUCONATE DIHYDRATE is used as an iron fortifier (nutritional supplement) in food and feed, with better absorption than inorganic iron. It is also used as a coloring agent and stabilizer. Regulations stipulate that it can be used in table salt and filled candies at a dosage of 4800–6000 mg/kg; high-iron cereals and their products (limited to 50g per day) at 1400–1600 mg/kg; dairy products and infant foods at 480–800 mg/kg; cereals and their products at 200–400 mg/kg; and beverages at 80–160 mg/kg.
