Description
Nonylphenol Ethoxylate, also known as NPEs, are nonionic surfactants that are liquid in form. Many different types of NPEs are determined by the number of moles of Ethylene Oxide, or EO. NPEs may function as adjuvants, cleaners, detergents, dispersants, emulsifiers, humectants, solubilizers or wetting agents. Nonylphenol Ethoxylates are used in many applications, including coatings, crop solutions, functional fluids, household, industrial, and institutional cleaning, as well as oil and gas.
Uses
NP40 Cell Lysis Buffer is suitable for the preparation of cell extracts to be analyzed by Antibody Bead Immunoassay (Luminex), ELISA, and Western blotting. It can also be used as a wash buffer for immunoprecipitation reactions.
Biochem/physiol Actions
ERK2 is a protein serine/threonine kinase that is a member of the extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERKs) which are activated in response to numerous growth factors and cytokines. Activation of ERK2 requires both tyrosine and threonine phosphorylation that is mediated by MEK. ERK2 is ubiquitously distributed in tissues with the highest expression in heart, brain and spinal cord. Activated ERK2 translocates into the nucleus where it phosphorylates various transcription factors (e.g., Elk-1, c-Myc, c-Jun, c-Fos, and C/EBP beta).
