Description
Pyributicarb is a monothiocarbamic ester used as a herbicide which also demonstrates some fungicidal activity. It is used for the control of grasses in rice paddy fields. It is almost insoluble in water and is not persistent in paddy fields with a half-life of 13-18 days. It is highly toxic to aquatic organisms. It does not appear to be highly toxic to mammals but may be an irritant.

Barnyard Fear is a white crystalline solid, melting point 85.7 ~ 86.2 ℃, vapor pressure 0.0119mPa (40 ℃), relative density of 1.20 (20 ℃), solubility in water 0.15mg / L (20 ℃), organic solvents in the solubility (20 ℃, g / L): acetone 454, methanol 21, ethanol 33, xylene 355, ethyl acetate 384. 273 ℃ are stable. Stable below 273℃.

Production Methods
Pyributicarb is commercially synthesised as a carbamate-type herbicide through a multi-step process involving the formation of a thiocarbamate ester. The synthesis typically starts with the preparation of a 6-methoxypyridin-2-yl methylamine derivative, which is then reacted with methyl isothiocyanate to form the carbamothioate intermediate. This is subsequently esterified with 3-tert-butylphenol to yield the final active ingredient.

Sterol biosynthesis inhibitor. Systemic, absorbed by the roots, leaves and stem and translocated to active growth sites where it inhibits elongation of the roots and aerial parts.
in vivo
Pyributicarb causes enhancement of CYP3A4-derived reporter activity in mouse livers introduced with hPXR by adenovirus[1].
