Reactivity Profile
TRIMETHYL PHOSPHATE may explode when heated. Residue from a large scale atmospheric pressure distillation of this chemical has exploded violently. METHYL ACID PHOSPHATE(512-56-1) is incompatible with nitrates. . Organophosphates are susceptible to formation of highly toxic and flammable phosphine gas in the presence of strong reducing agents such as hydrides. Partial oxidation by oxidizing agents may result in the release of toxic phosphorus oxides.

Trimethyl phosphate (TMP) is a kind of organic reagent, stable at room temperature, good solubility in a variety of resins, low viscosity, low hue, so it can be used as special solvents; such as epoxy resin additives (reduced viscosity); anti stain when processing polyester fiber (To improve the dyeing quality); textile finishing agent; used as gasoline additives, can prevent the detonation, improve the octane number, increase the stability of lead-based gasoline storage; can also be used as a control agent for gasoline surface ignition, tetraethyllead decomposition inhibitor when high temperature; non-corrosive gasoline additive; catalyst for polymerization of polyester fiber; modifier for graphite product; plasticizer; extraction agent; pesticide raw material for pesticide. Trimethyl phosphate hydrolysis occurs in water, so it is necessary to preserve moisture. Because of its hydrolysis and the release of PO43-, thus becoming the homogeneous precipitation agent, which is insoluble phosphate precipitation, is often used as precipitation reagents of zirconium and hafnium and a diffusion source for the determination of semiconductors. (2) It is mainly used as medicine and solvent and extraction agent of pesticide. Pesticide intermediates. In Japan, mainly used for textile oil and anti-coloring agent of polymer.
(3) It is used as gas chromatography stationary phase; for the determination of zirconium; used as extraction agent.
