Stanolone – a Potent Androgenic Hormone

Stanolone, or androstanolone, is chemically identical to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Formed primarily in the prostate gland, testes, hair follicles, and adrenal glands by the enzyme 5-alpha-reductase by means of reducing the alpha 4, 5 double-bond, stanolone could be seemed as a biologically active metabolite of the hormone testosterone. Unlike testosterone, stanolone cannot be aromatized to estradiol. For this reason, stanolone is recognized as a pure androgenic steroid. Belongs to the class of organic compounds known as androgens and derivatives, stanolone is an agonist of the androgen receptor (AR). These 3-hydroxylated C19 steroid hormones is thought to be approximately 30 times more potent than testosterone as a result of increased affinity to the androgen receptor.

Stanolone plays important physiological role in sexual differentiation, maturation of the penis and scrotum, hair, sebum production and development and maintenance of the prostate gland and seminal vesicles. It is mainly used for the treatment of male hypogonadism, androgen deficiency of severe illness, androgen deficiency of ageing and microphallus in infancy. In the womb, stanolone stimulates the development of male characteristics of the male embryo and fetus. It can promote the normal development of the external genitalia and prostate, and has a positive effect on the emergence and maintenance of secondary sexual characteristics, and promote the maturation of sperm in the epididymis. Known to favor the development of masculine characteristics, stanolone also show profound effects on scalp and body hair in humans.

Sold under the brand name Andractim, stanolone is an androgen and anabolic steroid (AAS) medication and hormone which is used mainly in the treatment of low testosterone levels in men. It is also used to treat breast development and small penis in males. It is typically given as a gel for application to the skin, but can also be used as an ester by injection into muscle.

Stanolone is also sold on the veterinary market of certain countries in either 20 or 50 mg/ml amounts. Males should take approximately 200-400mg per week, and injections are needed only once a week. Females can experiment with nandrolones because of their mild nature and low androgenic tendencies. Nevertheless, they are still somewhat androgenic, so no more than 50 mgs per week is advised for women, and if virilization issues occur, laurabolin’s use should be immediately ceased.

In the other hand, stanolone is used to be the athlete’s favorite competition steroid since it helped to obtain a harder muscle through a lower fat content by increasing the androgen level without aromatizing. However, for a fast buildup of power and muscle mass, stanolone is of little value. Numerous athletes used stanolone during workouts for doping tested championships since the substance remains in the body for only a short time and the testosterone/epitestosterone value is not influenced. Another positive characteristic is that the injectable version is not liver toxic.
