Is Carbon tetrabromide a polar or nonpolar compound?
Nov 19,2024
Carbon tetrabromide (CBr4) is a non-polar molecule with the same polarity as the CO₂ molecule. In simple terms, both CBr4 and CO₂ molecules have polar bonds, but because the polar bonds are symmetrically arranged around the central carbon atom, the bond dipoles cancel each other out. Therefore, CBr4 is a non-polar molecule.
