Drostanolone Enanthate is a derivative of DHT and was originally used in medicine as an antiestrogen in the treatment of breast cancer. As a doping agent, it works in building mass with high hardness and muscle density. Drostanolone Enanthate is an anabolic androgenic steroid. Does not aromatize into estrogen. The half-life is 2 days. Drostanolone Enanthate may act anti-estrogen through properties that may be partly related to the inhibition of the aromatase enzyme or interaction with estrogen itself, blocking estrogen binding to the receptor.¹

Estrogenic Side Effects

Mastoren (Drostanolone Enanthate) is not aromatized by the body, and is not measurably estrogenic. An anti-estrogen is not necessary when using this steroid, as gynecomastia is very rare even among sensitive individuals. Mastoren (Drostanolone Enanthate) as a non-aromatizable DHT derivative, may impart an anti-estrogenic effect, the drug competing with other (aromatizable) substrates for binding to the aromatase enzyme.⁴

Androgenic Side Effects

Although classified as an anabolic steroid, androgenic side effects are still common with this substance, especially with higher doses. This may include bouts of oily skin, acne, and body/facial hair growth. Anabolic/androgenic steroids may also aggravate male pattern hair loss. Women are also warned of the potential virilizing effects of anabolic/androgenic steroids. These may include a deepening of the voice, menstrual irregularities, changes in skin texture, facial hair growth, and clitoral enlargement.⁴

Hepatotoxicity Side Effects

Mastoren (Drostanolone Enanthate) does not have hepatotoxic effects and therefore, liver toxicity is unlikely.⁴

Cardiovascular Side Effects

Anabolic/androgenic steroids can have deleterious effects on serum cholesterol. This includes a tendency to reduce HDL (good) cholesterol values and increase LDL (bad) cholesterol values, which may shift the HDL to LDL balance in a direction that favors greater risk of arteriosclerosis. The relative impact of an anabolic/androgenic steroid on serum lipids is dependant on the dose, route of administration (oral vs. injectable), type of steroid (aromatizable or non-aromatizable), and level of resistance to hepatic metabolism. Anabolic/androgenic steroids may also adversely affect blood pressure and triglycerides, reduce endothelial relaxation, and support left ventricular hypertrophy, all potentially increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease and myocardial infarction. Mastoren (Drostanolone Enanthate) is likely to have a less dramatic impact on cardiovascular risk factors than synthetic oral anabolic steroids. To help reduce cardiovascular strain, it is advised to maintain an active cardiovascular exercise program and minimize the intake of saturated fats, cholesterol, and simple carbohydrates at all times during active steroid administration. Supplementing with fish oils and a natural cholesterol/antioxidant formula is also recommended.⁴

Dosage of Drostalone Enanthate

From 200mg to 500mg per week. It is taken every 3 days.¹

Administration for Men

It is most commonly used at a dosage of 300 – 500 mg per week. The dosage schedule should be further divided to reduce the volume of each injection equally, administering the drug two times per week. One should also take caution to rotate injection sites regularly, so as to avoid irritation or infection. The positive effects of this drug become most apparent when it is used for longer cycles, usually lasting 6-12 weeks or more in duration.⁴

Administration for Women

Mastoren (Drostanolone Enanthate) is rarely used with women in clinical medicine. Mastoren (Drostanolone Enanthate) is not recommended for women for performance enhancing purposes due to its strong androgenic nature and tendency to produce virilizing side effects.⁴

Treatment of DHT (androstan-17β-ol-3-one, stanolone) 1 with methyl formate and the strong base sodium methoxide gives 2. The newly added formyl function in the product is shown in the enol form. Catalytic hydrogenation reduces that function to a methyl group 3. The addition of hydrogen from the bottom face of the molecule leads to the formation of β-methyl isomer where the methyl group occupies the higher-energy axial position. Strong base-induced equilibration of the methyl group leads to the formation of the sterically favoured equatorial α-methyl isomer, affording dromostanolone.^5,6
