Description	Geranylacetone (Geranyl acetone) is a sesquiterpenoid isolated from Ferula akitschkensis stems that reduces parasite burden in infected animals and can be used in studies of Trypanosoma congolense infections Geranylacetone is used as an antioxidant in the Spondylidinae subfamily Geranylacetone can be used as a pheromone component in the Spondylidinae subfamily of California longhorn beetles.
In vivo	Geranylacetone在50及100 mg/kg BW的剂量下用于治疗T. congolense感染的大鼠，连续治疗14天，结果显示能够降低感染动物的寄生虫负担。其中，100 mg/kg BW的Geranylacetone显著（p < 0.05）改善了由寄生虫引起的贫血、肝脏及肾脏损伤。此外，该化合物还能缓解寄生虫诱导的肝脾肿大和感染动物血清游离唾液酸水平的增加，这与通过该化合物观察到的贫血改善有关[1]。
