This alkaloid has been described by Russian workers who have isolated it from
Sophora alopecuroides L. It yields colourless needles from Me2CO and a specific
rotation of [α]D- 50.6° (c 0.555, EtOH). Acetylation furnishes the O-acetate
withm.p.14S-7°C.
It is soluble in organic solvents such as methanol, ethanol, and DMSO, and is derived from Sophora alopecuroides and Acacia.
Oxysophoridine (Sophoridine N-oxide) is a bioactive alkaloid extracted from the Sophora alopecuroides Linn. Oxysophoridine (Sophoridine N-oxide) shows anti inflammatory, anti oxidative stress and anti apoptosis effects[1][2].
ChEBI: Ammothamnine is an alkaloid and a tertiary amine oxide.
