ChEBI: An alkylbenzene that is benzene substituted by a butan-2-yl group.
Moderately toxic by
ingestion. A skin and eye irritant. Flammable
liquid when exposed to heat or flame. To
fight fire, use foam, CO2, dry chemical,
water spray or mist. Incompatible with
oxidzing materials. When heated to
decomposition it emits acrid smoke and
fumes.
Chemical/Physical. sec-Butylbenzene will not hydrolyze because it has no hydrolyzable
functional group (Kollig, 1995).
The ITSL for sec-butylbenzene is set at 6.4 μg/m3 based on annual average time.
