Averantin is an anthraquinone fungal metabolite that has been found in Aspergillus. It is an intermediate in the biosynthesis of aflatoxin B1 . Averantin is active against B. subtilis bacteria and the plant pathogenic fungus F. solani in vitro (MICs = 16-32 μg/ml).
