APP processing deficient mutants show stronger synaptogenic activity than APPwt. The synaptogenic activity of APP was analyzed in a co-culture assay. HEK293 cells were transiently transfected with APPwt and seeded 24 h later on primary cortical neurons (DIV7). The cells were fxed after 24 h (neurons DIV 8) and analyzed via immunocytochemistry. (A) Cells were stained with TAU1 as axonal marker, Synaptophysin as presynaptic marker and antibody c-myc for APP.

C-myc基因是myc基因家族的重要成员之一，c-myc基因既是一种可易位基因，又是一种多种物质调节的可调节基因，也是一种可使细胞无限增殖，获永生化功能，促进细胞分裂的基因，myc基因参于细胞凋零，c-myc基因与多种肿瘤发生发展有关。
C-myc基因的产物为62KD的磷酸化蛋白P62c-mgc，是由C-myc基因的外显子2和3共同编码的由439个氨基酸组成的蛋白质，定位细胞核内，为核蛋白，依C-one编码产物，功能分类，C-myc癌基因属核蛋白基因，具有转化细胞的能力，并具有与染色体、DNA结合的特性，在调节细胞生长、分化及恶性转化中发挥作用。
