Reported found in rue (Ruta graveolens L.)
Nonyl isovalerate is used in flavour compositions as a modifier in imitation Apple (interesting for Sherbet Ice flavour), Orange and Hazelnut flavours, and Tobacco flavours. It lends a very natural earthy-oily sweetness to Nut compositions, and this effect should be considered in perfumery, too. Concentration in finished flavoured products is normally as low as 0.5 to 2 ppm.
By esterification of n-nonanol with isovaleric acid.
ChEBI: Nonyl isovalerate is a carboxylic ester.
