ChEBI: A carbamate ester that is the methyl ester of methoxy(2-{[(3,5,6-trichloropyridin-2-yl)oxy]methyl}phenyl)carbamic acid. A methoxycarbanilate fungicide used on rice and other crops.
Triclopyricarb is produced commercially through a process that begins with the preparation of the 3,5,6-trichloropyridin-2-yl intermediate, which is functionalised via etherification with a benzyl alcohol derivative. This fragment is then condensed with a methoxycarbamate unit to yield the final methyl N methoxy N [2 ((3,5,6 trichloropyridin 2 yl)oxymethyl)phenyl]carbamate structure. After synthesis, the crude product is purified by recrystallisation or chromatography to obtain technical-grade fungicide.
