Clerici solution is an aqueous solution consisting of equal parts of thallium formate (TI(HCO2)) and thallium malonate (TI(C3H3O4)). It has valuable application in mineralogy, being capable of separate minerals by density with a traditional flotationmethod. Its advantages include transparency and an easily controllable density in the range 1–5 g/cm3. At the same time, floatation in cleric solution for density measuring is one of the most effective methods in the determination of the specific gravity of small mineral grains.
