In(OTf)3 (11.2 mg, 2 mol%), p-toluenesulfonamide PTSA (57.1 mg, 30 mol%), dichloromethane DCE (2.0 mL), p-propylphenylacetylene (1.0 mmol) and water (0.2 mL) were added to a 10 mL reaction flask, refluxed and stirred, and the reaction progress was monitored by thin-layer chromatography.
After the reaction was complete, the organic solvent was distilled under reduced pressure, and the crude product was purified by silica gel column chromatography (200-300 mesh, petroleum ether:ethyl acetate = 10:1) to prepare 1-(4-Propylphenyl)ethan-1-one.
