Psyllium is a gum obtained from the plant of the plantago genus. it
hydrates slowly to form a viscous dispersion of concentrations up to
1%. a clear, gelatinous mass is formed at 2%. it is used in bulk laxa-
tives. psyllium husk, having a purity of no less than 95% is a source
of beta-glucan soluble fiber.
