Magnesium silicate is used as a lubricant, filler, electric and heat insulator and in clarifying liquids by filtration. Talc is used in many industries such as paper making, plastic, paints and coatings, rubber, food, electric cable, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and ceramics. It is a widely used as baby powder (aka talcum). It is also useful for the treatment of complicated spontaneous pneumothorax.
