  Carboprost tromethamine,15-(S)-methyl-PGF_2α (Hemabate), is a prostaglandin derivativethat has been modified to prevent metabolic oxidation ofthe 15-position alcohol function. This derivative may be administeredin a hospital setting only in a dose of 250 μg bydeep intramuscular injection to induce abortion or to amelioratesevere postpartum hemorrhage.
