Production Methods
Disodium methanearsonate is commercially produced through the neutralisation of methanearsonic acid with sodium hydroxide. In industrial settings, methanearsonic acid is synthesised by reacting methylarsine oxide with oxidising agents. This intermediate is then treated with sodium hydroxide or sodium carbonate to form the disodium salt, resulting in disodium methanearsonate.
Agricultural Uses
Herbicide, Disodium methylarsonate: Used as a herbicide to control post-emergent grass weeds, including crab grass, in common grass lawns and established turf; for general non-crop weed control in cotton. Not actively registered for use in the U.S. or EU countries. There are 15 global suppliers[97
