ChEBI: 2-{4-[(6-chloro-1,3-benzoxazol-2-yl)oxy]phenoxy}-N-(2-fluorophenyl)-N-methylpropanamide is a member of the class of 1,3-benzoxazoles that is 6-chloro-1,3-benzoxazol-2-ol in which the hydrogen of the hydroxy group at position 2 is substituted by a 4-({1-[(2-fluorophenyl)(methyl)amino]-1-oxopropan-2-yl}oxy)phenyl group. It is a member of 1,3-benzoxazoles, an organochlorine compound, an aromatic ether, a member of monofluorobenzenes and a tertiary carboxamide.
Production Methods
Metamifop is commercially produced through a multi-step synthesis involving aryloxyphenoxypropionate chemistry, starting with the preparation of key intermediates such as 6-chlorobenzoxazole and fluorophenyl derivatives. The process includes etherification of the benzoxazole with a phenol derivative, followed by amidation with N-methylpropanamide containing a fluorinated aromatic ring. These steps are carried out under controlled conditions using organic solvents and catalysts to ensure high yield and purity.
Mechanism of action
Acetyl CoA carboxylase inhibitor (ACCase) - distrupts fatty acid biosynthesis and lipid formation. Causes chlorosis leading to growth retardation
